Our foundation in the Sunshine State
Senior Home Companions was established nearly three decades ago in Sarasota, Florida back in 1992. Founder Judy Cuppy sought to develop an innovative approach for seniors to preserve their independence while staying safe in their own homes. She established a peer-to-peer connection system matching active, healthy seniors with those experiencing difficulties with health, social isolation, or mobility concerns.
Later on, when Judy's sister Gloria Scott needed in-home assistance for their mother in The Villages, she implemented Judy's approach and established another Senior Home Companions location in The Villages. Both locations were subsequently purchased by David Morgan, the current President of Senior Home Companions, after he witnessed the exceptional quality of companion caregivers during his own grandparents' care. Currently, our main headquarters operates from Florida while maintaining strong relationships with team members and affiliate caregivers across our Florida service regions.
Serving communities across Florida
Our three Florida locations include offices in Ft. Myers, Sarasota and The Villages, with affiliate caregivers providing services throughout the surrounding communities. We take pride in helping families across Sarasota, Osprey, Nokomis, Venice, Englewood, and Bradenton, including seasonal residents coming from northern states and the Midwest. We're dedicated to providing dependable caregiver support for people who relocate to Florida for the excellent weather but may require assistance with local navigation or daily tasks upon arrival.
Responding to a calling to help others
The caregivers who join Senior Home Companions in The Villages are carefully selected for their integrity, experience, and reliability. Less than 20 percent of candidates successfully complete our thorough vetting process to become part of this elite group of caregiver affiliates dedicated to serving senior adults. Similar to our founding program, many of our caregivers are seasoned, mature professionals, including those retired from service professions such as healthcare, education, or domestic management.
Our companion caregivers are dedicated to exceeding expectations in their client and family care, providing individualized attention and non-medical support to promote independent home living. With care plans ranging from several hours weekly to round-the-clock care, our offerings encompass transportation assistance and daily care management, help with light cleaning and meal preparation, promoting recreational activities and social engagement, personal care and bathroom assistance, and transitional recovery support when required.
