November Caregiver Ambassador of the Month: Jamie Adair

December 10, 2021

This November, we're delighted to recognize Jamie Adair as our exceptional Caregiver Ambassador of the Month. Jamie has served as a vital team member at our Angels Senior Home Solutions Naples office for nearly seven years, beginning her journey during her sophomore year at Florida Gulf Coast University. Her remarkable commitment to client care made her a natural selection for this month's recognition.

Jamie's unwavering commitment to her clients

Jamie received her nomination from Debbie Nelson, HR Coordinator at Angels Senior Home Solutions, who praised Jamie's abilities and her consistent dedication to quality care. "Jamie genuinely cares about each client and ensures they receive everything they need," Debbie expressed. "She brings warmth and positive energy to every encounter. Her clients absolutely value their time with Jamie as their caregiver."

Jamie approaches her duties with professionalism, skill and deep compassion, serving clients throughout Angels' extensive Collier County coverage area without any issues. "Jamie shows remarkable caregiving abilities and keeps excellent communication with our office," Debbie noted. "She readily accepts additional shifts, even following long workdays. She's truly an asset to our team."

First steps into the caregiving field

Jamie discovered her passion for caregiving while pursuing her education. "My studies focused on human services," Jamie explained. "I was eager to gain practical experience and determine which client population would be my focus." Though she initially worked with children, she soon recognized it wasn't her ideal match.

"I discovered Angels, completed my application, went through interviews and assessments, and was hired immediately," she recalled. "I developed a love for the work and have remained dedicated to senior care ever since." Jamie's path shows how college students can become valued caregiving professionals, benefiting from flexible scheduling while gaining valuable work experience.

Understanding both sides of the business

Following four years as a direct caregiver, Jamie transitioned to a recruitment position within the Angels Senior Home Solutions office for approximately two years. "It provided me with a completely different perspective and gave me tremendous respect for Barb, Debbie, and our entire Angels and Senior Home Companions staff," Jamie described. "Understanding their challenges with conducting interviews, finding exceptional caregivers, and ensuring we consistently fulfill every client's requirements."

Jamie looks back on her office experience with gratitude as valuable career development, but she discovered her true passion was in hands-on caregiving and returned to that role within the past year.

Jamie's commitment to Alzheimer's advocacy

Through our Caregiver Ambassador program, we're honored to contribute to each winner's chosen local charity. Jamie selected the Alzheimer's Association, motivated by her work and personal encounters with this condition.

"Through my work with Angels clients, I've observed how Alzheimer's impacts both patients and their loved ones," Jamie shared. "I've also experienced it firsthand through my fiancé's family members. We participate in the annual Alzheimer's walk, so supporting this cause means everything to us and allows us to create a meaningful impact."

Spreading joy to clients during the holiday season

"The most significant thing I've learned is the importance of truly listening to your clients," Jamie observed. "Many are seeking companionship, so much of my role involves spending quality time conversing with them." During the coming holiday season, these relationship-building skills become especially important for festivities. "This season brings families together, but some clients don't have family members to share these special times," she explained. "We help them embrace the celebrations and maintain positivity so they can experience happiness too!"
